Sheffield Eagles plot revenge over Bradford Bulls

Winger Rob Worrincy says Sunday's Championship Shield final is the perfect opportunity to make up for their recent 80-0 thumping by Bradford Bulls.

Eagles put their troubles aside after a sensational victory over Halifax last weekend, to set up a return to Odsal where they were hammered just over a week ago.

Worrincy says that it will be a different side that will return. “We were embarrassed with the performance at Bradford” Worrincy said. “There are things going off away from the pitch that are affecting us, but the only thing that is in our hands is what happens on the pitch. We turned up with the right attitude at Halifax, we bounced back and hopefully we can carry that on next week and it will go full swing from two weeks ago.”

Worrincy added: “Sport often provides you with the opportunity to make amends for what you have done wrong, and usually it is a few weeks or months for the opportunity to arise. We have an opportunity now to write a few wrongs straight away. It will be tough, but with the right attitude and mindset we can go to places like Odsal and put on a performance.”

Now in his third spell with the club, Worrincy feels the pain of the club’s off the field plight more than most.

But he is remaining positive about the Eagles’ chances of survival, whilst trying to maintain his focus on ending a turbulent season on a high.

“It is a difficult situation,” Worrincy reiterated.

“There are people’s livelihoods at stake. There are lads here that were set on staying here for at least a couple of years, and now that is up on the air. We have to have some faith in the guys off the field, hopefully they can sort the club out, but all we can do is keep the brand of the Eagles going on the field and hopefully win a final.”

Takeover talks are continuing behind the scenes, but the real possibility remains that Sunday’s clash at Odsal could be the last in the history of Sheffield Eagles.
