SHEFFIELD Eagles coach Mark Aston is ready to change a winning team as he seeks his best 17.
An unchanged squad gave the Eagles their first win of the season against Batley Bulldogs but Aston was not happy with some individual performances.
“We need to have a look at other people,” he said. “A couple of people who were in there against Batley will be disappointed when I pull them out next week and let someone who has been training out of their skin get in there and show where they are at.”
The forwards have looked strong, and with a small squad and Dane McDonald out injured, Aston’s options for change in that area for the trip to Swinton Lions are restricted
His focus will fall on the backs, with what is expected to be a firm pitch offering the chance to play more expansively.
Winger Scott Turner, whose tries played a big part in the surge to the Championship title, has recovered from a calf injury. Centre Matt Garside, signed from York, is still waiting for his debut and hooker or half-back Pat Smith has impressed his coach in training.
“Scotty Turner who will be back from injury and available,” said Aston. “Matt Garside is busting a gut to get out there and Pat Smith is training as well as ever.”
