Sheffield Eagles’ captain Mitch Stringer has revealed the players made a pledge to come back strongly in the league as they lost the Northern Rail Cup final to Leigh.
“We spoke about it on the pitch after Leigh scored the second last try, we made a pact to each other that we are going to win the last eight games” he said. Eagles bounced back with a win over Keighley and can move clear at the top of the Championship if they beat Workington at home tomorrow.
Stringer said: “We don’t want to feel like we did against Leigh again. Everyone was devastated. We’ve put the Cup games to bed and will ensure we’re right for the rest of the season.”
