SHEFFIELD Eagles players will be out to exploit the playing conditions when they face Swinton Lions tomorrow.

The pitch at Leigh Sports Village is expected to firm and should suit the Eagles attacking style for the first time this season. Four points from the two opening games have been earned in the mud and near freezing temperatures in night games. Tomorrow is a 3pm kick-off.

Coach Mark Aston said: “We have been determined and strong defensively but the conditions didn’t suit us. Against Swinton we’ll be on a big and hopefully firm pitch, we have to use it.”

That will put the pressure on half-backs Patch Walker and Dominic Brambani.

Aston said: “I wouldn’t single them out for a great game last week. When they go out on the field they have to run the team. If we had been executing our decisions right, putting the ball in the right areas we would have got a lot more out of it.

“We didn’t and the people who manage that team have to put their hand up.”
