Try-scoring double act Menzie Yere and Quentin Laulu-Togagae are powering Sheffield Eagles towards their first ever league leader’s shield.
Papua New Guinea centre Yere broke the club’s individual scoring record with his 36th try of the season in the win at York. He took that honour from Laulu-Togagae (nicknamed QLT) who set the old mark last year.
But the Samoan full-back is almost keeping pace with a hat-trick against the Knights taking his haul to 29.
“Two players who have scored 60 plus tries between them’ it’s fantastic to have that,” said coach Mark Aston.
“Menzie is back to his best. He really went for that record try in the first half and finally got it after half-time. I’m delighted for him. He’s a real character and I’ve really enjoyed working with him.”
