SHEFFIELD Eagles hardman centre Menzie Yere could be banned from playing in Sunday’s Championship Grand Final.

The Papua New Guinea international has been charged with a ‘dangerous throw’ when tackling Stuart Donlan in the semi-final at Leigh last week. Yere will appear before the RFL disciplinary panel tonight and could face a suspension of one to three games.

It would be a massive blow to the Eagles, with Yere’s attacking power a key factor if they are to defeat Featherstone Rovers in the final. Against Leigh, Yere’s strength allowed him to break the defensive line and get the ball to winger Vinny Finigan who scored the try that tipped the game in the Eagles’ favour.

The centre had returned to the Eagles team at Leigh after serving a two-match ban for a tackle on Featherstone’s Jon Hepworth. The charge comes after an examination of the match video by the RFL review panel.
