Mitch Stringer leads from the front and he’s determined to drive Sheffield Eagles to a second successive Grand Final triumph.
The Eagles’ captain says a disappointing end to the league season will make the team more determined when they face Halifax in play-offs round tomorrow.
“I hate losing. We want to win and that’s meant pushing ourselves in training to be ready” he said. “This week it’s been about heads-down and work hard. We know we can get to the Grand Final.”
A win at Don Valley would earn a semi-final place with a bonus of a week off but defeat would leave the Eagles facing an ‘extra sudden’ death round. The prop forward predicts it will be a different Eagles from the team that lost league games at Featherstone and Doncaster to miss out on a first league leader’s shield.
He added: “It the first time this year we have lost two league games on the bounce. We’ve played a lot, it was a tired performance at Doncaster. We set our goals at the start of the season and we’ve not quite achieved them but we can sort ourselves out.”
