Record try scorer Menzie Yere, 30, has signed a new ‘rolling’ contract at Sheffield Eagles and could stay for the rest of his career.
The deal will keep the Papua New Guinea international at the Eagles next season says coach Mark Aston.
“It’s a rolling contract, when Menzie’s time comes he will finish here” he said. “I’m delighted he’s tied himself up to us for the rest of his career. He’s still got a lot to offer.”
Yere joined in 2009 and set a club record of 46 tries last season. This year has not been so prolific but he’s crossed the whitewash regularly and scored in Wednesday’s demolition of Rochdale.
The win lifted the Eagles into fifth place as the players take a break this weekend with the focus on the Challenge Cup final at Wembley.
