SHEFFIELD Eagles coach Mark Aston has warned his players they must not let another chance to pile up points go begging.

The Eagles ran in five tries in the first half of the 34-16 win over Toulouse Olympique but only added one in the final 40 minutes.

“Sometimes when you get away from a team that sort of thing happens, but I’m not copping that and the lads are better than that,” he said.

“Our kicking game was outstanding in the first 40 minutes but we just stopped doing the things that had opened Toulouse up. We started trying to go round them when we needed to go direct.

“I’ve told the lads that we’ve got to be ruthless when we get in that situation. Keep to the game plan and we’ll keep scoring points.”

Aston is looking to his forward pack to again provide a platform by dominating possession when Halifax come to Bramall Lane next Sunday.

“The forwards were big and strong and we know that when we get on the front foot we can do anything – as we showed iagainst Toulouse,” he said.
