Lawton set for return
STRONG-running forward Craig Lawton could be set to return to action in Sunday's rearranged Championship clash against Batley Bulldogs at Featherstone's Chris Moyles Stadium.
Now the Dons longest-serving player, Lawton has yet to turn out for the troubled club this season following a major shoulder operation during the winter.
But head coach Tony Miller says that the prop/second-rower is now ready to return.
"Craig has been away on a short holiday but is back today and I'll make a decision on whether to include him in the squad after training," he told The Star.
"We've missed Craig this season. He is one of our most experienced forwards and has been one of our most consistent performers over the years.
"But we've not tried to rush him back too soon - that way a player can end up breaking down in training and end up being out for much longer.
We've waited until he's got the all-clear at every stage of his rehabilitation programme.
"Craig has been back in full training for several weeks and has done everything asked of him so he'll definitely be involved if not this weekend, then next Sunday against Sheffield Eagles.
"My inclination at this stage is to start with him on the bench and then bring him on midway through the first half."
The Dons will also be boosted by the return of prop Matt Carbutt who has missed several recent games due to a student tour arranged prior to him joining the club.
Utility back Shaun Leaf will also make his long-awaited return following several months on the sidelines with successive groin injuries.
The Dons are hoping for a good turn-out from Doncaster fans for the game switched to the Post Office Road club's ground due to the pitch renovation work being carried out on the Keepmoat Stadium pitch. It's only their second 'home' game in almost two months.
"It would be nice to see a decent crowd there and for them to get behind the lads in what will be a very tough game for us," said Miller.
