Lawton hope for Dons

THE Dons could have skipper Craig Lawton back in action in Sunday's Northern Rail Cup Pool A clash at Swinton.

The strong-running forward, who would have missed last weekend's opener at home to Barrow had it gone ahead, told head coach Tony Miller at last night's training session that his knee was feeling stronger and that there was a chance of him being available on Sunday.

"That will be good news if it proves to be the case," said Miller.

Last night's wintry weather had an adverse affect on Miller's plans.

"We had hoped to be able to do some work outside but the ground was rock hard so we had to settle for a circuit indoors and we also did a weights session," he said.

Several of the club's West Yorkshire-based players missed the session.

"One of the players who lives in Huddersfield said that he couldn't get out of his street due to the snow so I told them not to try and travel over to Doncaster but to go to a local gym instead," said Miller.
