Hull will provide stiff test in Dons friendly

ON Sunday we play Hull FC at the Keepmoat 3pm in our first pre-season friendly.

Richard Agar the Hull coach is bringing a very strong team so this will be a good test to see where we are.

We are expecting a really good crowd with Hull FC's ticket sales going very well already, so get down to the Keepmoat to support your team.

Our team have been training very well so the coaching staff assure me our suad has been training very well, so if we can build on last season I think we could be in for a good year.

We have got over all the troubles and as far as I'm concerned it's onwards and upwards.

Come on you Dons!

Condolences to our ex-assistant coach Ian Tattersall and all his family for the loss of his mum Moira.

Moira was a fantastic lady who did a great job with all the kids down at Toll Bar Amateur Rugby League Club for many years.

As a New Zealander I would also like to send my condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the Pike River Mining Disaster in New Zealand.

The Dons will be dedicating their season-opening league fixture against South Wales Scorpions on March 13 to the disaster.

A small explosion trapped 24 New Zealanders, two Australians, two Britons and a South African for six days until a larger explosion was believed to have claimed their lives.

With Doncaster being a mining town and Wales a mining country, the I believethis to be the perfect game to honour the miners.

Doncaster suffered a similar tragedy in November 1931 in which 45 miners were killed at Bentley colliery.

I am urging all New Zealanders in the UK, including rugby players from both codes of the game, to attend the match.

This is the least we can do for them.

Even though we are on the other side of the world the families who lost loved ones are in our thoughts.

All proceeds raised will go to the Pike River Trust Fund with the Dons donating 2 from every paying adult ticket.
