Harworth's Hodgson crowned overall champion

HARWORTH & District Cycling Club rider Gavin Hodgson was crowned overall champion after the third and final round of the duathlon series. Hodgson produced another consistent performance in the two-mile run, ten-mile cycle ride and two mile run and fully deserved to take the honours in what turned out to be a most successful and popular series.

The event, again held on the Barnby Moor course, attracted a record entry of 43 competitors who were drawn from across North Nottinghamshire and South Yorkshire.

Top man on the night was Iron Man triathlon competitor Neil Kirk from the North Notts Olympic club who was contesting the local event for the first time.

He proved to be a hard man to beat and posted a stunning record sub 25-minute time on the bike section.

Hodgson filled runners up spot behind Kirk and crossed the finishing line ahead of Retford's Ollie Lord, Steve Wathall and Andy Pedley.

First lady was Retford's Helen Crossley followed by Harworth CC's Sara Rodgers. Charmain Heaton (Retford AC) third.

Harworth & District CC chairman Matthew Barker-Quick presented the winners with their prizes at the awards ceremony held at the White Horse public house at Barnby Moor.
