Every game will be tough, says skipper

DONCASTER Knights could hardly have had a tougher start to their inaugural Championship campaign.

Knights took on, and were beaten 26-12, Bedford who finished third last season at Castle Park on Saturday, and this weekend they make the long journey down to Exeter to face the 2008-09 runners-up.

"Exeter is another tough match, but on the flip side it is good to play against the better sides because it brings the best out in you," said influential skipper Glen Kenworthy.

"We know that they are a good side but we drew there on the last day of last season, so we've no fears about going there.

"There are going to be no easy games this season due to the league being reduced to 12 teams and the introduction of a top-eight play-off.

"Whereas in the past a lot of teams had nothing to play for by midway through the season, and the players will sometimes find it hard to get up for games, every team will have something to play for this season, be it a top-eight spot or fighting against relegation. That is going to make it very competitive.

"Fortunately, I think that we have the strongest squad that we've had whilst I've been here and I've got faith in the players.

"Our goal is to at least finish in the top four to give ourselves the best possible chance in the play-offs.

"We are also looking forward to the new British & Irish Cup because there are some big names involved.

"It will be nice to play against different sides in different countries, but the league is our priority."
