Doncaster Men get back on the right track

DONCASTER Men got back to winning ways by beating Formby 3-0 in Conference North.

Doncaster picked themselves up following their disappointing defeat in the Hockey Association Cup the previous weekend, and began in a positive fashion.

Johnny Appleton and Oliver Couttie, who was unfortunate not to score after hitting the side post were impressive.

However, their hosts were not about to let Doncaster have it all their own way.

Five minutes from the end of the first-half, Doncaster were awarded the first short corner from which Steve Harvey scored.

Doncaster went close to adding to their account from short corners - the Formby keeper saving a goalbound shot and another resulting in a near miss on the post.

Doncaster continued to push forward and Colin Edwards, with an assist from Ben Foster, scored an excellent goal from open play.

Formby were awarded their first short corner but it was well defended by Doncaster.

Ten minutes from time Tim Shelley scored Doncaster's third with a well-taken flick from a short corner.

Formby continued to play with a real determination and but for Andy Appleton reacting quickly to clear a shot off the line, they would have pulled a goal back

Doncaster entertain league leaders Belper on Saturday.
