WITH the Dons having the weekend off, we got our weekend fix of Rugby League with the Carnegie Challenge Cup semi-final between Leeds and Castleford being staged at the Keepmoat Stadium.
What a great experience to see the stadium packed with rugby league fans and what a great, intense game as well.
I left the stadium dreaming ‘if only one day this could be replicated at a Dons fixture’.
They do say sometimes dreams come true...
At this Sunday’s home Championship One game against Whitehaven, we will be helping to raise money for former Doncaster boxer Jason Rushton and will be donating £2 from every paying adul.
As you probably know, Jason lost part of his sight in his last boxing fight two years ago as well as suffering other injuries. He is an inspirational kid who is finding it a bit tough at the minute.
But he is a true fighter and is determined to get over this setback and will tell anyone this is one fight he is determined to win.
We are busy trying to get a few more troops on board as we have been hit by injuries and are down in numbers.
I don’t want to say too much about the players concerned as we may have to mask a few of them up.
Players may well have to play with the odd injection or two from the club doctor.
We were hoping to have dual-registered second-rower Chris Green back but he picked up an injury playing for Hull last weekend which is a massive blow as we were looking forward to him coming back as he adds a lot to our team.
At the game against Workington on Sunday week, we will be doing a one-day only promotion for next year’s season ticket to cover at least 12 home fixtures next season for only £80. Please see Jackie Green to purchase your ticket for next year.
There are a few places left on our trip to the Leeds v Wigan Challenge Cup final. We are putting a bus on from the Keepmoat and it is a great day out for only £60 which includes a £41 ticket.
If you are interested in experiencing the Wembley cup final contact the club on 01302765 888.
Come on you Dons.
