Doncaster RLFC are hoping it will be a case of third time lucky in Sunday’s crucial League One Super 8s clash against Keighley at the Keepmoat Stadium.

The Dons successfully targeted a top-four finish in the regular season which secured them four home games in the seven-match Super 8s.

But they have lost both of their home games to date, albeit against the two form teams in the competition, and their only joy to date has been the win at Hunslet.

But assistant coach Peter Green, who felt there were far more positives than negatives in Sunday’s 38-18 defeat by unbeaten French side Toulouse at the Keepmoat Stadium, is confident the Dons can account for the West Yorkshire side at the weekend.

“We’ll have scrum-half Jordie Hedges back from a three-match suspension and hopefully we’ll also have Mason Tonks available again,” he said.

Beaten by the Dons in their opening home League One game back in March, Keighley didn’t do as well as most pundits had predicted during the regular season.

They’ve also made a disappointing start to their Super 8s campaign, losing their first three games before getting off the mark against London at home on Sunday.

“They’ve had a bit of an up and down season but we’ll not be underestimating them because they’ve got some experienced players used to playing in big games and that is always a danger,” said Green.
