Doncaster RLFC have been handed a plum tie away to Super League giants Leeds Rhinos in the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

The Dons, who beat University of Gloucestershire All Golds on Sunday to reach the fifth round stage, will make the short journey to Headingley over the weekend of April 22/23.

Doncaster beat a young Leeds side 35-34 in a dramatic pre-season friendly at the Keepmoat Stadium in January.

Head coach Gary Thornton told the Free Press this morning: “We’ve made it clear that the league is our priority this season.

“We know we aren’t going to win the Challenge Cup so we were looking to draw one of the big clubs home or away and make a bit of money and they don’t come much bigger than Leeds at Headingley.”

Fifth round draw: Leigh Centurions v Hull Kingston Rovers, Featherstone Rovers v Oldham RLFC, Leeds Rhinos v Doncaster, Salford Red Devils v Toronto Wolfpack, Whitehaven or Oxford RLFC v Halifax, Dewsbury Rams v Batley Bulldogs , Huddersfield Giants v Swinton Lions, York City Knights v Barrow Raiders.
