HAVING no game last weekend, hopefully the boys have had time to get over their knocks and have recharged the batteries for this Sunday’s very tough fixture away to Whitehaven.
The trip to the Recreation Ground has been made even tougher by them getting a touch-up last week at Rochdale.
They will be smarting after their first loss of the season and wanting to take it out on us.
The four lads Paul and Carl Hughes, Craig Robinson and Liam Crawley are back from their wedding duties so will be keen to impress in training this week in the hope of getting back into the team.
It looks like we will be losing prop Jamie Bovill for a few weeks as he has been called up to the RFL on two charges relating to the Rochdale game at the Keepmoat Stadium, so faces another trip up to Red Hall. It is something we will have to address.
I know the game is trying to clamp down on these so-called grapple chicken wing-type tackles, but some of the penalties are a bit harsh In my eyes. We aren’t playing touch rugby!
I would like to thank second-rower Craig Lawton for coming back and helping us out for the two games, when we were down on numbers, and the way he played he didn’t let anyone down. He has recently had a promotion at work and as much as he would have loved to stay he just can’t commit to training.
He told me he really enjoyed being back and that we have a real good bunch of lads here.
I know the boys wanted him to stay as well, but at the end of the day Craig is getting married this year and has to think of his family and his future. We wish him all the best.
We have been busy putting the finishing touches together for Doncaster’s 2013 World Cup bid which has to be submitted on Friday, so please go onto the website www.backthedoncasterbid.co.uk to back the bid.
