Could pitch work against Rovers?

ROVERS No 2 Richard O'Kelly has welcomed work begining to renovate the Keepmoat Stadium pitch this week.

"We are all looking forward to playing on the new pitch next season," said O'Kelly.

"When you saw how bad it got in the second half of the season it made you wonder how we managed to play such good football on it."

O'Kelly acknowledges that a pitch more in keeping with the club's Championship status could be a double-edged sword.

"I can't argue with the fact that it probably helped us at times.

"Some of the players would say that if they struggled to play on the pitch, and they are used to it, how were our opponents going to cope."
