Rovers: Doncaster midfielder Josh Payne joins Oxford United
DONCASTER Rovers midfielder Josh Payne has today joined League Two side Oxford United on an initial one-month loan.
The young midfielder, 19, joined Rovers after impressing in pre-season following his release from Premier League side West Ham United, and has since made one appearance for the first team, against Accrington Stanley in the first round of the League Cup.
However, with the return to fitness of John Oster and Mark Wilson, appearances could be potentially restricted for the midfielder, with Payne heading to the newly promoted League Two side Oxford United for regular first team football.
The U's were promoted back into the Football League at the end of last term, with Chris Wilder's side achieving promotion via the Conference Play-Off Final at the expense of York City.
Should Payne's move be processed in time, the midfielder could enter the Oxford United squad to take on Aldershot Town this evening.
If not Payne will be in action against Morecambe on Saturday afternoon.
