ROTHERHAM sailor Paul Goodison will have to come from behind if he is to leave the Weymouth and Portland International Regatta with a medal after a disappointing end to his fleet racing yesterday.
The 33-year-old headed into Wednesday’s races in third and didn’t look like releasing his grip on the podium as he got off to a flying start with a second-place finish in his first race.
But he could only follow that up with a ninth in his second race, slipping him down to fourth as Holland’s Rutger van Schaardenburg leapfrogged him with finishes of fourth and first.
However, it is far from all doom and gloom for Goodison ahead of Friday’s medal race with him just six points off bronze and eight away from gold in a tight contest.
