Richardson leads way en-route to Federation national final

DONCASTER A clinched the Federation National League Division 5 title with a win over Swadlincote in their final match of the season.

Doncaster, who won the home leg at Woodlands Park 241-154, and ran the home side close 221-190 in the away leg at Newhall Social Club, claimed an overall 431-375 victory.

John Richardson put his knowledge of his home green to good advantage when chalking up a 21-1 win.

Doncaster now join the other five divisional winners in the end of season Champion of Champions competition at Todmorden on Sunday, September 25.

Mick Harper (21-9) and Dave Thornton (21-7) were the only winners for Pilkingtons Rec as Keith Haydon and John Laycock both won 21-9 for Brodsworth in their 142-127 Over-60s League Division One success.

Chris Simpson’s 21-9 win was crucial for Rossington in their 145-137 derby win over Tickhill.

Parklands posted a 148-139 win over Roundwood.

Brian Barratt (21-8) and Barry Bentley (21-9) shone for Armthorpe in their 162-114 Division Two victory over Hexthorpe. A

Askern beat visiting Westfield Park 148-128.

Yorkshire Main B carded a 153-138 Division Three win at Adwick B.

John Dean (21-6) gave Mexborough B an early lead, but Derek Wykes (21-8) and Derek Tissington (21-9) starred in Bawtry’s B fightback which saw them run out 143-126 winners. Doreen Heptinstall (21-7) won the match (146-134) for Brodsworth B at home to Pilks Pensioners.

Colin Senior’s 21-7 win was not enough for Mexborough B as Fred Cannell (21-9) and Alvin Langham (21-5) showed up well for Adwick B in their 144-122 victory.

Pilks Pensioners (163-128) saw off Parklands B.

Alan Broughton and Mick Coulson (21-9) were the only winners for Parklands as John Armstrong and Charlie Wootton won 21-7 for Pilkingtons in their 72-62 Over-60s Doubles League Division One victory.

Malcolm Needham and Ken Sanders (21-9) were the match-winners for Rossington in their 76-68 victory over Armthorpe.

Thorpe Marsh Bentley pipped Roundwood 72-69.

Barry Taylor and John Armstrong were 21-9 winners for Pilkingtons Recreation in their 78-60 victory over Armthorpe

Brian Line and Frank Potts (21-7) and Bob Knibbs and Bob Sisman (21-5) were on good form for Westfield Park in their resounding 84-44 Division Two win at Brodsworth.

Adwick had good wins from Brian Nock and Jean Hopson (21-4), Brian Stubbs and Jim Parker (21-7) and Carol Raven and John Baldwin (21-8) in their emphatic 84-31 victory over Tickhill.

Last pair Ken Fishwick and Harold Wren won 21-6 for Rossington B to earn their side a 76-65 victory at Brodsworth. Bawtry B beat visiting Adwick B 72-64 in their Division Three clash.
