SHEFFIELD’S Wimbledon men’s doubles champion Jonny Marray lost in the first round of the Thailand Open in Bangkok yesterday as he looks to rediscover the form that took him to his first Grand Slam title.

Playing with Sweden’s Johan Brunstrom instead of his usual partner Fred Nielsen, Marray lost 1-6, 6-3, 9-11 against wildcard entrants Yen-Hsun Lu of Chinese Taipei and Danai Udomchoke of Thailand.

Marray and Nielsen are still ranked ninth on the ATP’s Race for London, which is the multi-million pound tournament at the O2 Arena in November.

The top eight doubles pairs will qualify for the event.

Lu and Udomchoke will now meet Andy Murray’s elder brother Jamie who made it through to the second round with Brazilian doubles partner Andre Sa.

The winners of the tournament receive $30,220.
