SHEFFIELD’S Jennifer Ren has been knocked out in the second round of the junior girls singles event in the Australian Open.

The talented 18-year-old suffered a 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 3-6 defeat against Japan’s Kanami Tsuji yesterday.

Ren, who practises at Sheffield’s Hallamshire Tennis Club, also lost in the doubles competition earlier in the week. The teenager and her partner Bulgarian Viktoryia Kisialeva were beaten in straight sets 6-2, 6-1 by Japanese duo Eri Hozumi and Miyu Kato.
