Youngsters battled it out across a wide range of age groups throughout Saturday and Sunday as spectactors were able to enjoy blue skies and warm sunshine for the mammoth contest which drew in entries from across Yorkshire.

Visitors were also able to enjoy a string of activities including bouncy castles, sideshows and stalls as well games and refreshments. The club's mascot - Bessy Bear - was also on hand to welcome visitors.

Bessacarr FC''s Martin McCarthy said: "I felt extremely proud to be a part of Bessacarr FC over the last couple of days.

"The number of people who came up to me to say thank you for organising such an excellent tournament “the best they’ve ever attended”, “the one they always look forward to each year”, and “how the hell do you organise it on such a scale”, goes to prove we have some brilliant people connected with our club."

The club's Facebook page added: "What an incredible two days it has been. Some absolutely amazing football, the sun shined, the ice creams flowed and most importantly the kids had a great time."

The club had two reasons to celebrate - the Under 14s Reds that battled through two penalty shoot outs to be crowned 2016 champions while the Under 9s Reds team were also crowned champions of their age group.
