Owls ex-star remembered

FAMILY, friends and an army of fans are preparing for the funeral of ex-Sheffield Wednesday footballer Phil O'Donnell.

The 35-year-old Motherwell captain, who collapsed and died towards the end of his club's game against Dundee United at the weekend, will be buried in Hamilton on Friday.

Wednesday's matches at Hull City and at home to Preston North End were preceded by a minute's applause as a mark of respect, with Hillsborough flags flying at half mast

The former Scotland and Celtic player died of heart failure.

The funeral service will take place at St Mary's Church, Hamilton.

O'Donnell made 20 appearances for Wednesday from 1999–2003. He leaves a wife and four children.
