Owls slash ticket prices

WEDNESDAY today unveiled admission price cuts for the rest of the season.

The club have also ended the practice of charging more for tickets bought on match day than for those purchased in advance, and made new offers to season-ticket-holders.

They also expect to reveal discounts for students later this week.

Chairman Lee Strafford wants to make Hillsborough football more affordable and to improve attendances.

Price cuts for adult tickets range between 11 and 25 per cent. One example is that an adult ticket for the Kop now costs 18, instead of 23 in advance or 24 on match day.

It is now 23 in the North Stand (previously 26 if bought in advance) and 25 for the South Stand (formerly 28 pre-match).

Season-ticket-holders are entitled to two free adult tickets for one of the matches against Birmingham on January 31, Palace on February 21, Swansea on March 21 or Southampton on April 18. 2,000 free tickets will be available to season-ticket- holders for each of these games.

A 25 per cent discount at the Owls Megastore is being offered to season-ticket-holders until September 30.

New match ticket details: North Stand, adults 23, concessions 14; South, 25, 14; Family Enclosure, 20, 10; Kop, 18, 9.

These prices apply at the turnstiles or at the ticket office in advance.

Strafford said he was very pleased that the club have been able to cut charges.

"It was also a major consideration to give something back to our loyal season-ticket-holders, who made a major investment in the club back in the summer," he said.

"While we cannot give money back to those supporters, we have tried to make as big a gesture as we can at this stage."

"Ticket pricing will be overhauled further for next season with the aim being that we offer good value for money driving a high take-up for the 2009-2010 season."

A special offer of 10 admission for adults and 5 for concessions on Saturday helped to attract a near-29,000 crowd for the 4-1 win against Charlton.

Previously-announced offers for games against Crystal Palace (friends for a fiver) and Reading (25 family ticket) have been superseded by today's announcement and will not go ahead.
