Willett flying high in Doha

SHEFFIELD’S Danny Willett is just three shots off the lead at the Qatar Masters in Doha after a three under par 69 yesterday.

Willett, aged 24, is enjoying a strong start to the year after a seventh placed finish at the Africa Open and 14th at the Joburg Open in January.

An eagle two on the par four 11th hole helped him move to three under before a bogey-birdie finish to his round moved him into fifth on the leaderboard.

Worksop pair Lee Westwood and Mark Foster are separated by two shots. Westwood went round in a one under par 71 while Foster birdied the last to finish with a one over par 73.

Spain’s Gonzalo Fdez-Castano leads at six under.
