Trump and Murphy seal their semi places
SHEFFIELD potter Judd Trump and former Rotherham player Shaun Murphy are both toasting sweet success having qualified for next weekend's PartyCasino.com Premier League semi-finals.
Trump, the world No 30, needed a draw or better over Murphy at the Cymru Centre in Llandudno last night to make sure of his place in the business end of this year's 200,000 tournament, broadcast live on SKY Sports.
And the 20-year-old, who practices at the World Snooker Academy in the city, secured his place in the next phase with fine 4-2 victory over Murphy, the world No 3 and former world champion.
However, even with defeat Murphy still managed to book his place in the next round having needed to win just one frame against his opponent to go through.
Trump has already won himself 24,000 in the group stages, as well as a further guaranteed 5,000 for reaching the semi-finals.
