Silver top the order for Adam

SHEFFIELD’S Adam Blythe will wear the silver jersey as points leader in today’s stage of the Tour of Qatar.

The 22-year-old, who finished second during Sunday’s opening stage of the race, was part of the BMC Racing squad for yesterday’s team-time-trial around the new Qatari city of Lusail.

BMC could only finish eighth, 16 seconds behind the winning team Garmin, but Blythe will still wear the points jersey during the 146.5 kilometre ride from Dukhan to Al Gharafa Stadium in Doha.

Belgian Tom Boonen leads the race overall from American Tyler Farrar.

Alberto Contador was yesterday stripped of his 2010 Tour de France victory and handed a two-year ban by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following his positive test for clenbuterol. It was initially announced the Spaniard had failed a doping Test in September 2010, shortly after he had won his third Tour - he was also victorious in 2007 and 2009.

The 2010 title will now go to Andy Schleck of Luxembourg.
