CITY of Sheffield U17 sprint star Kristie Edwards aims to win a record third consecutive Northern Championship title in the 60 and 200 meters at the Northern Indoor Championships at the English Institute of Sport, this weekend.

Kristie, a 15-year-old pupil at Rotherham’s Wickersley Sports College has been training hard over the past few months. She’s looking to emulate her past success under the guidance of new sprint coach Lueng Man, himself an accomplished veteran sprinter and member of the Sheffield AC.

The move to join forces with Lueng was made as Kristie felt it would bolster her attempt to become the best in the country in her age group. Last year Kristie won several regional and county championship titles and medalled in national competitions, the highlight being silver and gold medals at London prior to the Olympics, where she represented the North East in the UK School Games.
