THE awards keep totting up for Jessica Ennis ... and she has collected another one for the mantelpiece.
She has been named “Most Inspirational Sportswoman of the Year” at the Jaguar Academy of Sport Awards.
“I certainly hope by what I’ve achieved that I have inspired people not only to continue in sport but also seek new challenges,” said Sheffield’s gold medal Olympian.
“A lot of hard work went into winning that gold medal and you do hope it proves inspirational.”
The men’s equivalent award went to Bradley Wiggins who is emerging as favourite for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year on December 16, with Jess also short-listed.
The Award for Sporting Legacy this year went to Lord Coe.
