ROSSINGTON had four of the first five winners, including a 21-8 win from Percy Simpson, but ex-Rossington bowler Eric Wright won 21-9 for Thorpe Marsh Bentley to give his side a narrow 138-136 Doncaster Bowls Association Over-60s League Division One win.

Derek Brookes (21-3) and Colin Draper (21-7) shone for Roundwood in their 139-116 win with last man Ted Owens replying 21-5 for Bawtry.

Alan Bell (21-8) gave Brodsworth the lead, but Roundwood drew the game (138-138) thanks to last man Alan Bissell’s 21-5 win.

Last man Mick Baker (21-8) earned Pilkingtons 140-140 draw at Parklands.

Jim Pickford’s 21-8 win proved crucial for Tickhill as they pipped Rossington by a point.

Armthorpe’s clean sweep of winners in their 168-77 Division Two win over Bentley Colliery, included Bernard Birchall (21-8), Brian Cooke (21-2), John Clewer (21-9), Dave Henson (21-7) and Keith Huckerby (21-8).

Bernard Birchall (21-9) and Brian Booth (21-8) were the best winners for Armthorpe in their 159-121 success over Eden Grove-Peglers.

Askern started brightly with wins from Nora Buxton (21-7) and George Blenkinsop (21-6), but Joan Job (21-8) and last man Lol Atkinson (21-2) turned the match in Carcroft’s favour.

Brian James won 21-9 for Bentley Colliery, but Sid Price (21-8) went one better to win the match (144-124) for Westfield Park.

Malcolm Farmery (21-9), Betty Pond (21-2) and Bill Cresswell (21-8) caught the eye for Mexborough B in their 162-99 Division Three win over Adwick B.

Vic Heley’s 21-7 win proved vital for Rossington B in their 133-129 win over Adwicck B, for whom Alvin Langham won 21-9.

Pensioners were narrowly beaten 141-138 at Bawtry B, despite a 21-7 win from Tommy Edwards.

Eva Stokes (21-5), Frances Ceaser (21-8), Eric Senior (21-8) and Colin Nicholson (21-9) all excelled for Mexborough B in their 162-101 win over Bawtry B.

Enoch Walker’s 21-6 win was the only really bright spot for Brodsworth B as Albert Cork (21-5) and Tommy Parker (21-2) wrapped up the match (143-109) for Pensioners.

Eddie Birdsey (21-7) stood out for Thorne in their 158-124 win at Rossington B. Armthorpe posted a 71-69 Over-60s Doubles League Division One win over Rossington.

Bob Louden and Barry Taylor (21-6) and Eric Marsh and Shirley Thornton (21-1) all featured for Pilkingtons Rec in thei 84-36 win over Parklands. Rossington B claimed a narrow 79-74 win over Brodsworth. Thorne chalked up 75-69 win over Westfield Park.
