No settling over Tevez, say Blades
SHEFFIELD UNITED have already submitted their claim for compensation over the Carlos Tevez Affair, The Star can reveal.
But, contrary to reports, the club have not offered to strike a deal with West Ham which would see them accept a cut-price 2 5 million in staged payments.
The news comes after United, who drew 1-1 at Ipswich Town on Saturday, won a temporary injunction at the High Court last week prohibiting their rivals from London appealing the judgement of an independent arbitration tribunal, which declared the Argentina international should was ineligible for selection during the closing stages of the 2006/07
Premier League season, to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland.
United chairman Kevin McCabe said: "We have put in our claim.
"It contains details and documentation of monies we lost because of losing our top-flight status and outlines these in a clear and meticulous way.
"It is totally transparent and has been prepared using a wide variety of sources.
"It is an authoritative piece of work."
McCabe added: "That has been handed over to the arbitration who will now consult it and, I am sure, West Ham will be doing their own work too.
"The arbitration is continuing on course and on timetable."
United expect an announcement regarding to amount they can expect to receive around March although the regime at Upton Park, which has been hit hard by the global credit crunch, have vowed to press ahead with their bid to refer the matter to CAS.
However, what many in the game regard as a deliberate effort by West Ham to bury the process beneath a mountain of red tape is unlikely to win them friends at Soho Square where the Football Association have insisted that CAS is powerless to intervene.
United have drawn Leyton Orient in the FA Cup third round. The tie, at the Matchroom Stadium, will be played on January 3rd or 4th but officials could decide it must take place on a different day to Barnsley's game at West Ham.
