New opponents set up for Sheffield’s Jonny Marray

Have your say

JONNY Marray’s progress in the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam may have been made less arduous by the withdrawal of his first round opponents in the doubles today.

Instead of facing Canada’s Daniel Nestor, who is ranked World No 5 in doubles, and top 30 singles player Mikhail Youzhny in his opening match, Marray and partner Colin Fleming will take on Dutch pair Stephan Fransen and Wesley Koolhof.

Youzhny had to abandon in the third set of his singles match against Thiemo de Bakker yesterday because of a hip injury. A win will guarantee Marray at least 90 ranking points in the ATP 500 Series tournament.
