Birdwell Wheelers’ Trevor Mayne impressed in the veterans road race at Clitheroe, a top quality national ranking event.
He worked hard to bridge across to the break which formed up the big hill with 20 miles to go and was pleased to finish fifth both overall and in his age category.
Second-claim member Dan Taylor finished fifth in the VC Cumbria 25 mile TT in a time of 53m 51s. Despite the very wet weather this was his second best time at the distance.
Andy Cutts rode in his first TLI road race at Stainton. He was able to chase down a few breaks that didn’t last and in the ensuing sprint got boxed in and finished just outside the top 10.
Mike Brown rode his first regional A 2/3/4 event promoted by Upton CC on a 56- mile course on the A638, finishing just outside the pointsafter almiost being brought down by an irresponsible rider in a bunch sprint for third.
Paul Heggie and Andy Cutts rode the Holme Valley Wheelers 10 mile TT starting near the Sovereign public house. Cutts finished in 24m 45s and Heggie’s time of 29m 11s was good enough to place him first in the 60+ age group
In the club’s 16 mile Time trial at Thurnscoe DanTaylor came out on top in a time of 37m 28s . Fastest on handicap was Ian Taggart.

This Sunday’s club run leaves at 9am from Birdwell roundabout. Visitors are welcome.
