Sheffield Wednesday skipper Darren Purse has quit Hillsborough.
The big defender parted company "by mutual consent" this afternoon.
His 18 months at the club ended after some Owls fans called for his head because they did not like his style and felt he was responsible for some goals Wednesday had conceded.
Millwall could go for the centre half who had 71 appearances for the Owls.
Up to a few days ago, the 33-year-old former England under-21 international had not expected to leave at this stage.
Wednesday have made an approach for Notts County's Lee Hughes and Brentford's Myles Weston.
