FRIDAY the 13th is normally considered to be an unlucky day - but it won’t be for the 12 winners of the prestigious 2011 Keepmoat Stadium Sports awards.
The third Sports Awards evening at the stadium in May, will honour the town’s sporting heroes at a glitzy ceremony which will feature entertainment, a two-course dinner and celebrity guests.
Following the success of last year’s event, the Stadium Management Company (SMC) are expecting even more entries this year - illustrating just how much sporting talent there is in the town.
Anyone who was born, lives or participates in Doncaster at the time of the ceremony can be nominated.
Shane Chalmers, chief executive of the SMC said: “We were bowled over by the success of last year’s event. We received almost 200 nominations, making the judges’ job an almost impossible task.
“The sporting community really got behind the awards and the event was special.
“As a community stadium it is important that we keep up this momentum and continue to celebrate sporting achievement from across the borough.
“We want to hear from golfers, fishing champions, sprinters and darts teams to swimmers, ice dancers, hockey players and gymnasts - absolutely everyone can get involved.”
Nomination forms are available from the Keepmoat Stadium reception (01302 762 656) or online at www.keepmoatstadium.com
