Kayode and out

BARNSLEY striker Kayode Odejayi is set to join Colchester tomorrow on a three-month emergency loan deal.

Odejayi, who impressed during pre-season for the Reds, had been linked with a move to Southend United.

But Colchester were also interested in the Nigerian-born striker and he is expected to put pen to paper on a 93-day deal with the U's at the Weston Homes Community Stadium.

Reds' boss Mark Robins revealed: "Kayode's going to join Colchester on a three-month deal.

"He's a great lad and a great character, I'm sure this will be a good move for his career."

Meanwhile, Robins has agreed a one-month loan deal to bring former Fulham midfielder Julian Gray to Oakwell.

Gray, who has also had spells as Coventry City, Birmingham City and Crystal Palace, having started his career at Arsenal, has been a free agent since being released from Craven Cottage.

Reds director Don Rowing confirmed: "He's (Julian Gray] coming in on a one-month loan contract, that will give Mark time to decide on whether he wants to keep him for longer."

Robins has also given a trial to Slovenian international defender Suad Filekovic. The 6ft 3" centre-half trained with the Reds squad yesterday and will continue to work with the team this week.
