Sheffield has a new world champion. Freestyle skier Katie Summerhayes won the slopestyle event at the World Junior Ski Championships in Chiesa in Valmalenco, Italy.

The 18 year old had qualified for the finals after a first run score of 82.40 was followed up by 86.20 in her second run, which placed Summerhayes in second place behind Norway’s Johanne Killi. However, a superb first run in the final which scored 86.80 was enough for the Sheffield teen to win the event and push Killi into second.
