FORMER Sheffield hero Scott Neil believes his fast-improving Edinburgh side can upset Steelers this Sunday.
Capitals have turned around a disastrous start to win four of their last six matches including victories against Fife, Hull and Braehead.
“We have won those games because we are a good team,” said Neil.
“We had a brand new team and coach so it took us time to get going but we have a great work ethic and some skilled players that have gone under the radar.”
Neil puts the improvement down to Slovakian player-coach Richard Hartmann.
“He has worked marvels here,” he said. “He is probably the most experienced player in our league, he played 12 years in the Slovakia with some of the finest players in the world.
“His experience has been invaluable and his partnership with Rene Jarolin (14+10) has given us some serious firepower that can help us beat any team.
“Hartmann has instilled discipline in our systems. Right now we have the second best power-play and the second best penalty kill in the league,” said Neil. “There is an enthusiasm and excitement about what we have going here. We have the players all buying into the systems and we are executing well. We took a decision to go down the European route and it’s working for us. We are scoring some stunning goals and playing some outstanding hockey.
“We will come into Sheffield with a bounce in our step, we have the confidence to expect to pick up points against all the teams, the Steelers included. I know some fans and those associated with the club don’t care too much about Caps so it would be fantastic to come in and take the points.”
