NEIL Clark’s misery at Sheffield Steelers continues - he has been suspended and fined by the club.

The Star can reveal the unwanted Canadian failed to turn up in time for his side’s trip to Edinburgh Capitals, last weekend. Clark was not expected to play - he’s been left on the sidelines by coach Ryan Finnerty, recently. But he was supposed to turn up, as an unexpected injury would have meant a spot for him on the roster.

He was immediately suspended for two weeks and fined a week’s wages.

Club owner Tony Smith said: “There is a suggestion that there was a misunderstanding and the player turned up an hour late. It is a player’s responsibility to turn up on time for a bus, game or training session. The coach took appropriate action. I do feel for Clark. Like all hockey players he just wants to play and he is number 11 in a 10 import roster.”

Clark has been given the chance to play elsewhere.

Sheffield Steeldogs were first to discuss a switch and since then Coventry Blaze and Hull Stingrays have shown an interest.
