Sheffield Steelers were looking for their sixth win of the season over Coventry Blaze tonight.
Ryan Finnerty’s men have had little trouble disposing with Paul Thompson’s team.
And buoyed by the 9-4 win over Nottingham Panthers, last time out, the omens were good.
But sport isn’t always like that.
And Coventry, against the run of play, went ahead at 18;14, Dustin Cameron poking the puck past John DeCaro, with players seemingly in the crease.
Coventry, if anything, were more adventurous in the middle session.
But they went behind when Jeff Legue and Drew Fata scored.
Blaze grew in stature as the game wore on and deserved Matt Beleskey’s right wing goal.
In overtime though, Shawn Limpright smashed in the winner from centre blue line, touched on by Steve Goertzen.
