Streak-happy Steeldogs target two victories

Sheffield Steeldogs go into this weekend on a mini-winning streak.

But coach Andre Payette recognises their opponents this weekend, Bracknell Bees, home, tomorrow (7.30pm) and Peterborough, away, Sunday, are capable of causing an upset, despite sitting below Sheffield in the EPL table.

Payette said: “The guys played their hearts out last weekend. It was awesome to get four points against Slough Jets and Peterborough Phantoms.

“I was especially happy to beat Slough Jets, it meant we’ve beaten every team at least once this year.

“One of the great things about this team is that we have so many of our guys chipping in at different times, so each win is a team effort.”

Bees visit iceSheffield for the fourth game this season with Steeldogs 2-1 up in the series. It could be another nail-biter as all three games have been one-goal games, of which two included 2-1 scorelines and two of the three being decided on OT and penalty shots. Payette added: “Bracknell are a team who have a bit of everything and work hard every night.”

The Bees will bring hot-shots Lukas Smital and ex-Steeler Martin Masa into Sheffield, the pair combining for 96 points, which means Steeldogs’ defence will need to be on their toes again.
