Steelers keep up title chase

Sheffield Steelers boasted four different scorers as they won 4-2 at Edinburgh Capitals last night.
The victory was their eighth straight win to keep the pressure on both Belfast and Nottingham in the pursuit of this year’s league title.
Edinburgh on the other hand went down for a sixth straight time, they have only one win in their last fourteen games.
The visitors had the better of the opening period a couple of goals from Mike Ramsay at 14.48 and then Jason Hewitt at 18.39 gave them a two nil lead after twenty minutes.
Edinburgh got right back into the game as they cut the deficit to a single goal as Marcis Zembergs netted at 32.28. The Steelers took control of the game less than a minute later as Jonathan Phillips scored at 33.08 and then Colt King put the away side 4-1 in front at 34.50.
With the points in the bag the Steelers conserved their energy in the third period. The only goal came late in the game as Zembergs got his second of the game at 57.04

The top three in the Elite League all recorded victories last night.
Leaders Belfast Giants were 3-0 winners at Fife Flyers and second-placed Nottingham Panthers saw off visiting Coventry Blaze 6-1.
Elsewhere Braehead Clan won their all-Scottish clash with Dundee Stars 5-4 and Cardiff Devils won a goal-laden encounter with Hull Stingrays 8-5.
