THE SCOTTISH trio of Tony Hand, Les Millie and Scott Neil will be joining Steelers’ 20 year birthday celebrations on August 27.
Hand is acknowledged as the finest talent Britain has ever produced and he and the other Scots will link up with GB veteran David Longstaff, who has also accepted an invitation to play in a veterans’ game at Sheffield Arena.
Hand said: “This will be a brilliant event. Clubs have tried these games before but Sheffield will do it bigger and better. I had some great times there (1996-9) and maybe played my best hockey for Steelers. It will be good to see the guys again, there will be many stories told that weekend.”
Neil added: “Sheffield changed the game in Britain. Those early years were wild, something none of us could have imagined.
“They were great days and I think the Steelers are doing something truly wonderful here by bringing us all back for one last kick of the ball.”
