Sheffield Steeldogs’ ambitions in the EPL cup competition will be tested tonight when they host Peterborough Phantoms (7.45pm.)
This is the deciding game for the semi-final places. Guildford Flames, Milton Keynes Lightning and Manchester Phoenix have qualified with Slough and Steeldogs still in the mix. Two points will take Steeldogs into third place, any less puts them out of the contest.
Phantoms, after a dismal first half of the season, have found form with their latest signing, Slovakian Ondrej Lauko, a significant capture. Dogs coach Andre Payette hopes his side can come out of the blocks as they did in Manchester, when they established a two goal lead.
Payette is sending out a plea to all Sheffield hockey fans to come to the game at iceSheffield. He is again offering all Sheffield Steelers adult Season Ticket holders the chance to come to watch his team at a concession rate of £6.50. Phantoms are fighting for every League point as Steeldogs chase a semi-final Cup position, so it should be a full-blooded and feisty match.
