Sheffield Steelers will welcome back last-year defenceman Russ Moyer on Saturday - knowing that once the pre-match League title banner raising is complete they will have to keep a leash on him.
Moyer is Fife Flyers’ top-scoring defenceman with two goals and five assists in six outings. That is more than any Fife forward, other than Ryan Dingle.
Mathieu Roy, who won the Elite League title with Moyer last year, said: “I don’t think I have ever played against him - he is good, we are going to have to keep an eye on him, we know what he is able to do on the defence, he is a good offensive player, he has got some good success over there.”
Roy and his team-mates want to make amends to the 4,876 fans who watched Steelers flop against Cardiff Devils at the Arena. “We didn’t show up like we did (the night before in Cardiff) we didn’t play a good game” said the winger. “They were better than us, but now it’s over we can turn a page and work this week on next weekend.”
He said fatigue was no excuse for that loss.
“They had to travel too, they had the same schedule as us, so it’s not an issue.
“We need to turn it around and win against Fife.”
