The 50th league game of Steelers' exciting and unpredictable regular season ended in comprehensive defeat - but, in fairness, to a club that thoroughly deserves the title.

Devils took a 2-0 first period lead.

Mark Richardson and Patrick Asselin did the damage.

Ben O'Connor and Joey Martin - two of the best players in the League traded goals in the middle period, with Sheffield trailing 1-3/

But, other than a Geoff Walker goal, Devils dominated the last session.

Sean Bentivoglio, Andrew Lord and Patrick Bordeleau popped home the title winning goals.

Cardiff had outshot Steelers 36-23 on a night they were ready and prepared for what they needed to do.

Sheffield have lost their championship.

But the consolation is that it was to an excellent team.
